Prague

MONDAY, MAY 3

Arrive Prague where you’ll be met and transferred to the Falkensteiner Hotel Prague.

Remainder of the day to relax, explore surrounding area. Take in the activity in Wenceslas Square, center of much Czech history, admire facades and architecture of nearby State Opera and National Museum or explore the Mucha Foundation Art Museum highlighting the famous Czech illustrator.

Welcome cocktail reception to meet other travelers and hear about upcoming activities.

TUESDAY, MAY 4

Breakfast at hotel.

Guided daytime tour of Prague Castle, oldest castle complex in the world dating back to 9th century. Includes St. Vitus Cathedral, Strahov Monastery, and the Royal Garden.

Lunch on own between visiting sites.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 5

Breakfast at hotel.

Curated morning visit to the Old Town and its famous Astronomical Clock and St. Nicholas Church. Afternoon will be spent in the Jewish Quarter, its synagogues and immensely moving Jewish Cemetery.

Lunch at themed restaurant.

Late afternoon free to take in National Museum and supper on own.

Evening performance of Carmen (Bizet) at the National Theatre.

THURSDAY, MAY 6

Breakfast at hotel.

Morning to explore the New Town district and its vibrant mix of historic landmarks, modern architecture, and cultural museums centered around Charles Square and its Town Hall and along Narodni (National) Avenue. Highlights include a kinetic metal Franz Kafka Head and the whimsical Dancing House by architect Frank Gehry on the Vltava Riverside.

FRIDAY, MAY 7

Breakfast at hotel.

Morning at leisure, perhaps shopping in the Art Nouveau elegance of Parizska Street.

Afternoon visit to history-laden Jesuit origins of the Klementinum, taking in its breath-taking frescoed Baroque Library, considered one of the world’s most beautiful, and the fascinating Astronomical Tower.

Lunch in-between on own.

Dinner nearby followed by an hour-long concert in the Klementinum Mirror Chapel.

Take in the sunset with a walk along the Charles Bridge.

Berlin

SATURDAY, May 8

Breakfast at hotel.

Travel by high speed EuroCity train from Prague to Berlin, First Class with lunch onboard.

Check-in to premium Titanic Hotel Gendarmenmarkt in the central Mitte district with its Enlightenment-era plazas, architecture, and steps from picturesque boulevard Unter den Linden and the Berlin Cathedral.

Explore the nearby Gendarmenmarkt and have dinner on own in its surrounding restaurants.

SUNDAY, MAY 9

Breakfast at hotel.

Guided tour of Berlin with lunch enroute. Stops will include the Reichstag with views from its awe-inspiring Dome, the Brandenburg Gate, and the Kulturforum offering choices to view the Musical Instruments Museum, Museum of Decorative Arts, or Gemäldegalerie collection of Old Masters.

MONDAY, MAY 10

Breakfast at hotel.

Morning to visit the Deutsches Historisches Museum (German History Museum) with its sweeping look at 1,500 years. Afternoon spent exploring the fascinating interconnecting passages of the Hackesche Höfe (Courtyards), their Secession design buildings housing a range of restaurants, bars, and shops. Adjacent is the historic Jewish Quarter with its splendid Neue Synagogue, exhibits of the Centrum Judaicum (Jewish Centre), as well as the tiny Baroque Sophienkirche.

Lunch on your own in the area.

Our night is off to explore Berlin including a special gastronomic experience in nearby Kreuzberg.

TUESDAY, MAY 11

Breakfast at hotel.

Nearby is Museum Island mere steps from the hotel. A wealth of choices includes the Alte Nationalgalerie of Romantic masterworks, Neues Museum of Egyptian art and Classical antiquity, or Bode-Museum featuring sculptures by Donatello, Bernini, and Canova.

Lunch on own in a museum restaurant or café.

Evening performance of Puccini’s Turandot at the Deutsches Oper.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 12

Breakfast at hotel.

We’ll board a local tram to the centre of Communist East Berlin before the fall of the Berlin Wall – Alexanderplatz and its World Clock, the iconic Fernsehenturm (TV Tower) visible from anywhere in the city, and take in the world’s longest East Side Outdoor Art Gallery.

Lunch and afternoon on own for shopping in recommended areas.

Return to Titanic Hotel and dinner in Mitte.

THURSDAY, MAY 13

Breakfast at hotel.

A visit to historic Checkpoint Charlie marks the delineation between West and East Berlin. The Topography of Terror Museum in the old quarters of the Gestapo backed by fragments of the Berlin Wall provide a vivid reminder of the past century’s darker moments. Renewal is evident in nearby Potsdamer Platz which once again acts as a hub of transportation and shopping dominated by the grand canopy of the Sony Center housing the Deutsche Kinemathek Film and TV Museum.

FRIDAY, MAY 14

Our last full day to explore the neighbourhoods surrounding Titanic Hotel – shopping and café culture in lively Kreuzberg and the remarkable architecture and compelling exhibits of the Jewish Museum Berlin.

Lunch on your own and free time in the afternoon with a celebratory dinner together to conclude the time in Berlin.
